Sizzling Ivanovic exits from US Open

There has always been a great deal of fan following for tennis playing babes; and that too if they get to perform and win in big tournaments, one doesn't need to tell about their popularity. The latest babe to perform big at the Grand Slams is Ana Ivanovic. The gorgeous girl and presently the World No.1 from Serbia has went as far as winning the French Open. Since then, she has made sure that there is a major part of the crowd cheering her up. She was, definitely, one of the favourites to win the US Open despite the early exit from Wimbledon. Unfortunately, she was upset by Julie Coin who is ranked 188 in the second round. The fact that she had meekly surrendered to some Coin shows that she is not completely fit after the injury she sustained during Wimbledon. Whether she stages a big comeback in the coming tournaments or not, she'll remain as "The babe" for quite sometime as did Anna Kournikova and Sharapova.

India win ODI series against Sri Lanka

Despite the humiliating loss in the test series, India have managed to clinch the ODI series against Sri Lanka though not very convincingly. The fact that the Indians have managed to lift the trophy shows their determination to fact the Sri Lankan spin threat. The deadly spin duo - Muralitharan and Mendis did threaten the Indian batsmen but they did not get enough assistance from other bowlers to restrict India to a low total. The Indian batsmen played with caution against the duo and smashed others all around. The series is yet another example of Dhoni's leadership and his ability to marshal his player's strengths. The good thing about the series is the team effort. Everyone played some crucial role in some or the other situation. In the end, Dhoni was declared the Man of the Series for some excellent captaincy and great batting.

Freddie now tops the ICC rankings for all-rounders. Back from injuries, the former England captain is back at the top with his brilliant performance against South Africa. Flintoff has scored 156 runs and took 7 wickets in the ongoing series agaist South Africa. It should be noted that Flintoff had an injury prone last year accompanied by slump in his form and hence was not included in the main team for some time. There is no doubt that the Lancashire star is all excited and the fans will have more good news in the coming days.

Sachin to act in a movie

Cricketing genius and master batsman Sachin Tendulkar is going to do something other than what he usually does. The wizard from Mumbai will soon act in a Bollywood movie. The movie called "Vignsharta" is centred on the devotees who come in large group to visit Lord Ganesha at the Siddivinayak temple in Mumbai. The news is that Sachin has admitted that he is volunteering for the movie and will not be paid for his role. Surely this is interesting considering the amount of money the cricketers are are being paid for appearing in ads.
